It is not unusual to hear of celebrities turning to a life of drink and drugs, and often coming to the brink of death before ditching booze entirely. However, there is now a growing number of famous people who are choosing a life of sobriety without the preceding addiction.

Bella Hadid
Twenty-five-year-old supermodel Bella Hadid has turned her back on booze, after she began to cancel social events because she “wouldn’t be able to control [herself]” around drink.
She told InStyle magazine: “I have done my fair share of drinking.”
What’s more, she admitted to feeling “horrible anxiety” when remembering her nights out.

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez looks just as sensational at 52 years old as she did in her 20s and credits being sober to her fresh-faced look.
Speaking with US Weekly in 2016, she said: “I don’t drink or smoke or have caffeine. That really wrecks your skin as you get older.”
The health fanatic also fills herself up with plenty of vegetables and protein, wears a lot of sunscreen to protect her skin from the sun, has eight hours of sleep a night, and works out three or four times a week.

Adam Woodyatt
He may not be a Hollywood star, but EastEnder’s royalty Adam Woodyatt, aka Ian Beale, story is just as impressive, having been dry for more than one year.
Following the advice of his doctor, the 53-year-old gave up drinking and lost three stone as a result.
He told the Mirror: “With giving up alcohol, the weight drops off and because the weight dropped off, it was easier to cycle. So, it was easier to stay fit.”

Daniel Radcliffe
Fellow Brit Daniel Radcliffe has also walked away from booze, after he felt he was on the cusp of a drinking problem towards the end of the Harry Potter films.
After the blockbuster movies flung the then-teenager into worldwide success, he admitted he felt lost when they came to an end, and began drinking more as a result.
“For a little bit after it finished, it was panic and not knowing what to do next, and not being comfortable enough in who I was to remain sober,” the actor confided.
He has been sober since 2010, giving up booze at just 20 years old.

Leona Lewis
Leona Lewis might be the most successful export of The X Factor, but she has remained on her sobriety journey the entire time. Her reason for not touching alcohol, however, is simply because she doesn’t like the taste of it.
The 2006 winner has been reported as saying: “When my debut single [Bleeding Love] went to number one, I celebrated with non-alcoholic champagne.”

Anne Hathaway
Most people who turn their back on booze do so for health motives or to kick a habit they feel is getting out of control. However, for Anne Hathaway, the reason she ditched alcohol was down to her children.
After becoming a mother, she realised hangovers with kids can be hard work and would affect the time she had with them. As a result, she decided to remain sober, specifically for 18 years.
“I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house just because I don’t totally love the way I do it and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings,” she told the Lorraine show.
